Q. Why is this puppy sad?
A. Because you take drugs!
Over in America it is National Drugs Fact week. It is an event organised by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, who reside at the wonderful web address of http://drugabuse.gov/. It is an event primarily aimed at providing teenagers with real facts about drugs and drug use. Though if you go to the site, you will have a hard time finding very many facts. There is a PDF booklet that can be downloaded. It’s about 30 pages long with about 50 words per page. Here is an example of a fact.
You know they make you FUZZY but what do drugs do to your brain?Different drugs do different things. But they all affect the brain—that’s why drugs make you feel high, low, speeded up, slowed down, or see things that aren’t there.DID YOU KNOW? Repeated drug use can reset the brain’s pleasure meter, so that without the drug, you feel hopeless and sad. Eventually, everyday fun stuff like spending time with friends or playing with your dog doesn’t make you happy anymore.
And that in turn makes puppies sad…
Although to be fair to them at least they don’t have a picture of a sad dog and the Sara Bellum Blog that runs throughout the rest of the year is actually pretty good.
And none of the facts are nearly as bonkers the information on LSD that DoseNation found in this book at his local high school library. Far out man.
